Literature in China: The Power of a Story
On this page, we will set out on a journey into the magical world of Chinese literature.
Through shared reading and discussion of two fascinating stories – one dealing with childhood and the other an ancient Zen legend – we will uncover universal ideas together and observe the power of art to create reality and bridge gaps.
Activity 1: There Must Be a Child
An exciting literary meeting that invites the children to identify with the experiences of children in another culture. Through the story, we will discover the common and the different, the family values, and the rich world of imagination reflected in contemporary Chinese literary creation.
Activity 2: The Painter and the Mice
A magical Chinese legend about the power of art and the connection between reality and imagination. We will follow the story of the talented painter and learn about the ability of creation to breathe life into the world, while observing the beauty and wisdom that characterize Chinese fables.
