Aklim Program
About the Program
The Aklim program (Critical Incidents for Mathematics Learning) is a prestigious and unique training program managed by the Department of Mathematics Education at the University of Haifa, in partnership with and supported by the Trump Foundation.
The program, which grew out of Range Center (formerly: Aklim 5 – Clinical Training for Unique Teaching – 5-unit Mathematics), is specifically designed for students in the Department of Mathematics Education pursuing a teaching certificate.
Program Goal
Its central goal is to train 5-unit mathematics teachers with high pedagogical judgment. The learning focuses on a clinical training model that centers on identifying and deeply analyzing “critical incidents”—unexpected moments in a lesson that provide an opportunity to deepen students’ mathematical understanding.

- Learning based on the analysis of authentic teaching incidents from the field
