Activity 1: Introduction to Masks
The mask in Africa is much more than a decoration. In this activity, we will dive into the world of the symbolic meanings of the masks, understand their role in spiritual rituals, and learn about the deep connection between man, nature, and tradition in the different cultures.
Activity 2: Mosaic on a Mask
Join a colorful creation that combines tradition with modern art. We will learn how to design an African mask using the mosaic technique, while using textures and vibrant colors that give the mask a unique look, visual depth, and personal expression of the creating artist.
Activity 3: Mask on a Balloon
An experiential and fun workshop where we will sculpt a 3D mask using a unique method. We will use a balloon as a base for designing a face with expression and depth, and learn how to turn simple materials into an impressive work of art inspired by African culture and aesthetics.
