Math-Key (Mathematical Key)
About the Program
The Math-Key program (Open Tasks for Developing Mathematical Thinking) is an educational program developed and managed by Range Center (Department of Mathematics Education) at the University of Haifa, intended for students and teachers in heterogeneous classrooms in middle and high schools (grades 7th–10th). The program provides tools for solving problems from the curriculum using open tasks, which allow each student to find a solution according to their personal level of knowledge.
Program Goals
The program’s goals are to provide students with tools for solving mathematical problems through open tasks, which allow each student to work according to their personal level, and to assist teachers in the optimal management of heterogeneous classrooms. The program strives to develop mathematical knowledge alongside 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, mental flexibility, collaboration, and perseverance, with the aim of increasing student motivation, creating a positive attitude toward the subject, and improving academic achievement.
